The next generation Skoda Kodiaq will be launched in mid-2025

The second generation Skoda Kodiaq, which was introduced globally last October, will be launched in India in the second quarter of next year, Autocar India has confirmed. Skoda India brand manager Petr Janeba said the company will launch the upcoming Kodiaq as a complete kit (CKD) that can be assembled locally. That’s why the Kodiaq is taking so long to arrive here than when it’s available in other markets.

Janeba said the CKD path is long because the parts and components have to conform to the new standards. On the other hand, it is much easier to import a vehicle as a prefabricated part. Consider, for example, that Skoda is building a new container rack to transport parts of its right-hand drive Kodiaq to India. “The car is new. That’s why the perfect setup must be fresh. That’s why we take it less often.” The second generation Kodiaq was also seen on the roads without any explanation a few weeks ago.
The company has confirmed that the next Kodiaq will continue to use the same electronics as the previous model. That means a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with 190 hp and 320 Nm with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic system feeding all four wheels. The new generation of Kodiaq sold in Europe has a 13-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and three new ‘smartphones’ that control most of the vehicle’s functions. From these, external rotary knobs (each with a 32mm color display) are used to adjust the entire climate system for driver and passengers. The center console can be configured to control the infotainment volume, driver assistance, map zoom function and cruise control.

The Indian-spec Kodiaq is said to have the same equipment. In India, the previous generation Kodiaq is available in a single fully loaded LandK variant priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It looks like the second generation model should be more expensive. Skoda has confirmed that it will continue to sell the current generation in India until the end of this year, leaving a gap of three to six months before the launch of the new model.

Skoda’s next compact SUV will be launched in February. “We want to have a lot of confidence for the next two months, like March and April. So we don’t want to destroy the childhood of compact SUVs. The kid has to grow up first, and then another kid came in,” Janeba said.
