Chinese home appliance company Xiaomi has launched its SU7 electric car in India as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. The electric vehicle was launched globally in December last year. The appearance of the SU7 sedan was developed in-house under the leadership of Xiaomi’s design director, Sawyer Li. Li previously worked for the German automaker for five years, helping to design vehicles such as the BMW iX and the Circular Vision Concept.
The dimensions of the SU7 are 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width and 1,440 mm in height. The four-door engine is similar to the Porsche Taycan and the BYD badge. The streamlined shape and sleek lines contribute to a drag coefficient of just 0.195. Inside, a minimalist design was used, including a large touch screen that sits in the center of the stage, a digital display for the driver’s seat, a large head-up display and a panoramic glass roof. The SU7 is sold in China with three batteries.
A 73.6 kWh unit with a range of up to 700 km with rear-wheel drive, a 94.3 kWh unit with a range of up to 830 km (also with RWD) and a 101 kWh battery powering the two electric motors, which it gives a range of 800 kilometers according to the China Light Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) This is the SU7 Max trim with four-wheel drive. The top-of-the-range model has 673 hp and a maximum torque of 838 Nm and has a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.78 seconds. The two RWD versions produce 299 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The top speed of the supercharged SU7 Max is 265 km/h. So far, the company has not revealed any plans to launch the electric car in India.
